Both units are now re-united as one, under the management of John Reid. We have 350 suckler cows, which are as many as we can manage under an extensification regime and with the winter housing we have, and 3000 mule ewes, in both cases with followers; most of the calves and all the lambs are kept and fattened.
After the war, there was a small detached poultry farm in hand. The decision was taken to close it down and replace it with an intensive broiler chicken unit, utilising some of the army’s concrete for standings for the intensive housing. This still exists, with about 100,000 birds per crop.
