Goats
There is no getting away from it – if you cannot spray grassland, weeds such as thistles and dockens will become a problem. That is our experience and as an experiment we have bought a small herd of goats, the diet of which we hope will include the said thistles and docks. Perhaps we have too much grass and clover but as yet they haven’t cleared the farm of noxious weeds, although they did eat the flowers off the thistles that were in their field!
However a consequence of this experiment is that we are able to offer goat meat which is growing in poularity as a healthier alternative to lamb. Goat meat is similar in taste to lamb, but with a slightly stronger flavour. The big difference is that it has much less fat than lamb.
Our goats are all bred by South African Boer goats, the only breed which has been bred exclusively for meat.
Goat meat can be purchased direct from the online shop, either as a half or a whole kid. All products are delivered to your door in insulated boxes.
